The first lady has grazed the covers of the most prestigious magazines, captured the attention of a myriad of newspaper readers and sparkled on her various television appearances. Michelle Obama remains in the public eye for her grace but she will be the center of attention once again as she prepares to launch a history making “girl power” packed initiative.Washington’s Letitia Baldrige, who was the top aide to first lady Jacqueline Kennedy, said the mentoring program was “definitely” a first for a presidential spouse.
Participants “are going to have to put their heart and spirit and soul to it,” she said. She’ll set a tremendous example,” Baldrige continued. “She’ll be looked up to and revered all over the world for doing this.”
Michelle Obama is turning her vision into a reality. She said “This was one of my dreams, let me tell you … gathering an amazing group of women together, and going out and talking to young girls around this country.”
The program will begin with 20 privileged young high school girls but has promise to become so much greater in the near future. Although Mrs. Obama will be leading a mentorship program for these select young ladies, she will continue to inspire girls all across America as the Honorary President of Girls Scouts of American and promote other mentorship initiatives under the United We Serve program.
