Two men were executed in Iran after being accused of affiliation with an armed anti-government group following the disputed June elections.
The Washington Post reports that the prosecutor said there would soon be more trials of protesters and groups.
The two men, who were hanged before dawn, had been arrested before the election and did not appear to be connected to the post-election protests.
But they were part of the same mass trial as opposition leaders and activists arrested amid the crackdown, and state media depicted the two Thursday as connected to the protest movement, a sign of how the government has used the unrest as an opportunity to pursue other enemies.
The decision to execute these individuals is not supported by human rights organizations around the world or the Unites Stated.
